Cost of general liability insurance for fine arts school?
Question by Adriane: Cost of general liability insurance for fine arts school?
I'm in the process of opening a school for the fine arts (music, dance and theatre). I'm trying to get a list of expenses together and am curious what it's going to cost me for general liability insurance. We would have less than 10 employees, between 3000 and 4000 square feet of space and operate primarily M-F 3-9pm and S 10am-4pm. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I've written insurance for schools, but never "stand alone" general liability.
The GL rates are based on the number and ages of students, which you didn't include. You also need workers comp coverage. You don't mention if you need property coverage, or if you want accident coverage if the kids get hurt.
For a budget, you're going to have to lay aside somewhere between $ 10,000 and $ 25,000 for insurance - maybe more.

Q&A: Approximately how much is general liability insurance for a stucco & stone repairman?
Question by BrainHurts1: Approximately how much is general liability insurance for a stucco & stone repairman?
I am currently working for someone who has a small stucco and stone repair business. He has "demanded" that I get general liability insurance and that I pay for it myself. Approximately how much will 1,000,000.00 in coverage cost me for 6 months? Am I really responsible for paying for it? I am 28 and I live in Columbus, Ohio if that helps. I am really just looking for a vauge estimate. I know the details matter when it comes to something like this. Ballpark it...Thanks!

Probably $ 1,000-$ 1,500 per year. No one sells it on a 6 month basis as it's not worth it to issue a 6 month policy. I wouldn't risk my million dollars for $ 500 bucks, not including expenses.
If your an employee, you shouldn't be required to provide that coverage. It's only for the person who owns the business.
If you buy it to cover yourself, it WON'T cover your boss. It Won't provide any payments for lawyers to represent him in case of a claim.
It will only cover you.
Your boss also must provide Workers Comp coverage for you or any employees (by state law). He can be fined and be obligated to pay the work comp premiums for the prior 3 years, if caught.
