when car insurance companies quote your rates they run your name SS# etc. Where is the information coming from?

I'm looking to get a list of accidents I was sure that I know why I'm so high by city insurance companies. I am sure that somewhere there is a database for this information. Is it related to the DMV? I know you can get a list of tickets that you've received, but does it include accidents?
