what is loss of service as compared to a loss of use cover under a liability insurance policy?

Question by mcc: what is loss of service as compared to a loss of use cover under a liability insurance policy?
My car was hit by another car which was being test driven by a motor shop. My car had to be repaired and I had to commute to work for a week. Added to that I had to stay home for 4 days since I was recuperating from the injury. The shop has a liability policy and I wanted to claim from that insurance.

With regards to a car, loss of service and loss of use are the same thing. Likely, their auto insurance will only pay you up to $ 25 a day for your expenses - you'll have to provide them receipts for your commuting, assuming you took a bus. They'll reimburse you what you paid.
