Can anyone offer a rough estimate of childcare liability insurance?
Question by emily: Can anyone offer a rough estimate of childcare liability insurance?
I am thinking of openning a home day care and am researching costs. Can anyone offer a rough estimate of what child care liability insurance or a rider on my home insurance will cost? I don't want to wait until Monday to play with the numbers

Rates will vary from company to company for day care liability insurance.....and the MAIN problem will be that your homeowners policy may be in "danger" as they don't like day care operations.
Rates will typically depend on how many children and how many adults you have helping. Then you get into all of the safety issues...types of toys, type of containment (fencing in the play area.)
Good luck and I hope this helps!

Most carriers won’t give you a “rider” (endorsement) on your homeowners insurance to cover this. Some will want to flat out cancel you.
If you’re not looking for abuse/molestation defense costs, or accident coverage for medical payments to the kids, it’s going to cost about $ 600 a year. The accident policy STARTS at $ 750 for up to $ 10,000 of medical coverage. And the molestation/abuse defense policy starts at $ 1500.
Most home day cares flat out go without coverage.
