Penalty for fraud auto insurance in PA?

My friend was caught with the fraud claim ... He said the asks someone hit him while he was in the store and left the store to find his car was hit when he actually fell into a tree on a street and damaged his bumper. Investigators have examined the insurance supervision and found that his car has never been to the store at the time ... yes he is an idiot for that and do not know why he did something like that up, instead of tell the truth .... if this would have been the same sentence?
